BURBERRY LAUNCHES A UNIQUE INSTALLATION AT DOVER STREET MARKET, ALONGSIDE A SPECIAL DISPLAY BY CLAIRE DE ROUEN BOOKS




Following the presentation of Christopher Bailey’s final collection for Burberry on Saturday 17th February, the luxury British brand has launched a unique installation at Dover Street Market London. The installation showcases a capsule of re-issued pieces from the 1980s and 90s, discovered in the Burberry Archive and presented at Saturday’s show as part of the February 2018 Runway collection: club jackets and performance blousons, golfing sweaters and polo shirts, featuring a multitude of Burberry logos. The rainbow, an emblem for optimism and inclusiveness, features prominently across the collection, rooted in the introduction of a new Rainbow check, the latest iteration of Burberry’s most iconic symbol. Rainbow check features on designs including totes, pouches, baseball caps, sneakers, slides, a shirt, a scarf and a reversible Harrington.

Alongside the Re-issued Capsule, the Ground Floor Exhibition Space will also host a curation of vintage Burberry trenches, individually sourced, reproofed and restored in England, and all dating from circa 1960s to 1990s.

In addition on the Ground Floor of Dover Street Market, book gallery Claire de Rouen will launch a collection of special and limited edition books, artworks and prints in a super rainbow palette. The themes are sexiness, British youth culture, and LGBT+. A playful response to the themes running through Burberry’s February 2018 collection.

Conceived by Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons, the original Dover Street Market was first opened in Mayfair in 2004. Since then a further four Dover Street Market stores have opened in Ginza (Tokyo), New York, Singapore and Beijing, with Dover Street Market LA set to open in 2018.
