PRADA DONNA PRE-FALL 2018



The Prada Womenswear Pre-Fall 2018 emphasizes the concept of women's workwear with the assemblage of utilitarian, rational and industrial soul. Prada iconic material, Nylon, leads the show and echoes a form-and-function collection that is full of Prada underlying identities.

References to archival iconic prints of bananas, flames, lipsticks and hibiscus flowers, emerge clashing combinations of prints and embellishments. Defining new industrial aesthetics yet creating elegantly disruptive combinations.

The reintroduction of Linea Rossa in oversized jacket and lightweight reinforces the concept of elegant wearability that has been highlighted throughout the collection.

Footwear can be put into two main groups; Neoprene and Neoprene and Leather. Both groups have bands with a pale blue stripe attached to the top of the boot. Prada logo and Prada Milano logo are visible on the heel.

Bags are classic styles defined by some of the historic elements such as leathers, prints and manufacturing techniques, reworked with a modernist twist. The predominant color is black with color contrasts or paired with prints. The iconic prints are combined on flap bags in an unusual mix: the 'overprinting' technique used on classic bags gives them a contemporary look.

Within the show space, the boxes, crates and all other objects that colonize the warehouse are marked with a series of ambiguous symbols that express the multiplicity of the Prada identity. The depositories of Viale Ortles, Milan, translated into an oneiric and surreal archive, where the multifaceted essence of Prada comes to life, turning the warehouse into a venue that both speaks of Prada’s accumulated identities and its place within the contemporary.
