Inspired by the grace of the eagle and the majesty of the Alps, Chopard's sporty-chic collection welcomes two new versions of the Alpine Eagle Frozen timepiece. Crafted in ethical 18-carat white or rose gold, their 41 mm-diameter case, bezel and integrated bracelet are entirely set with diamonds. Endowed with technical expertise entirely on a par with its impressive aesthetics, these jewelled versions of the watch for "contemporary eagles" are equipped with the mechanical self-winding Chopard 01.03-C movement and a 60-hour power reserve. Thanks to their abundance of diamonds, reminiscent of tiny flakes of frost covering glaciers, they shine with an ethical and responsible aura.
In-house mastery of the gemsetting art
Two Alpine Eagle Frozen timepieces are joining Chopard's sporty-chic collection, while adding a majestic touch thanks to the richness of their diamonds magnificently highlighting the art of gemsetting. This expertise is faithfully cultivated by the in-house Artisans, who have patiently paved the entire case, as well as the bezel, dial and each bracelet link with 872 diamonds (totalling 12.27 carats) in ethical 18-carat gold. A challenge that requires no less than 20 hours of meticulous work for each timepiece.
These two new 41 mm-diameter (Large size) gemset models are joining the Alpine Eagle collection launched in 2019, which already includes numerous variations in Small (36 mm), Large (41 mm) and Extra-Large sizes with a chronograph movement (44 mm), in Lucent Steel A223 and/or ethical gold, as well as an exclusive model in titanium equipped with a high-frequency movement. Until now, the existing Alpine Eagle Frozen models contained only one gemset white ethical gold reference in a Small size.
Thanks to the sparkle of the precious stones, Chopard confirms the profound inspiration the collection draws from Nature, duly celebrated as the greatest architect. In this instance, the design was guided by the glaciers and the everlasting snows of the immaculate, glistening Alpine peaks: "Alpine Eagle Frozen is directly inspired by the Alpine glaciers and the way they brilliantly reflect the sunshine. Each diamond used on this timepiece sparkles like a snowflake that has settled on the mountain tops”, said Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, Co-President of Chopard as well as Co-Creator of the collection with his son and his father.
Alpine Eagle Frozen features the emblematic elements of the collection's pure and assertive design: the eight indexed screws that secure the bezel to a round case with stylised flanks; the integrated bracelet; along with the compass rose which has been guiding adventurers since antiquity which engraved on the gold crown. The hours and minutes can be read off on the dial by day and night thanks to facetted hands and rhodium-plated Roman numerals enhanced with Grade X1 SuperLuminova®.
A guarantee of reliability
Whether in the city or in the mountains, the Alpine Eagle Frozen timepieces can also count on the reliability of a mechanical self-winding movement visible through a sapphire crystal on the back of the watch. The 182-component Chopard 01.03-C calibre is meticulously crafted by the Artisans of the Maison. It is subject to strict specifications, guaranteeing a power reserve of 60 hours as well as excellent reliability.
Ethics meets aesthetics
Chopard’s commitment to ethics is a reality that necessarily translates into the creations emerging from its workshops. Like all gold timepieces and jewellery bearing the Maison’s emblem since July 2018, Alpine Eagle Frozen watches are made entirely from ethical gold. The diamonds used to adorn them are sourced from suppliers certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC). Offering living proof that it is always possible to orchestrate an encounter between ethics and aesthetics: the Scheufele family at the helm of Chopard from generation to generation works with conviction to invent objects endowed with both inner and outward beauty.
For true global citizens, the new L.U.C GMT One Black timepiece offers a casual, monochrome take on the dual-time travel watch. Its lightweight, ultra-durable case in ceramised grade 5 titanium and grey-on-black tonality make it the ideal timepiece to meet the demanding pace of life of a new generation of gentlemen. Along with the new L.U.C Time Traveler One Black worldtimer, it is the world’s first travel watch to use this advanced material for the case construction. Produced as a limited edition of 250 pieces, it brings a highly contemporary edge to the embodiment of the watchmaking art according to L.U.C, thanks to L.U.C Calibre 01.10-L, a dual-time movement entirely crafted by the artisans of Chopard Manufacture.
Time borders and time zones
Whether you’re returning to a life of regular travel or keeping track on faraway places, a GMT watch offers one of the most practical wristwatch complications. To this package, the L.U.C GMT One Black timepiece undeniably brings a spirit of contemporary adventure.
With a travel watch, legibility and ease of use are non-negotiable. Accordingly, the L.U.C GMT One Black timepiece offers wearers total clarity across two time zones, with the local time displayed conventionally via the distinctive Dauphine hands of the L.U.C collection, and a second time zone indicated against a 24-hour track via a pointed GMT hand. For added utility, the two time zones are adjusted with separate crowns: the crown positioned at 2 o’clock manages the date and local time, while the crown at 4 o’clock moves the 24-hour disc.
An innovative and modern material
The use of ceramised grade 5 titanium for the L.U.C GMT One Black marks a world first in the field of travel watches and reflects Chopard Manufacture’s ongoing commitment to harnessing the most innovative materials in the advancement of Fine Watchmaking.
Used in areas such as aerospace, automotive and medical component manufacturing, ceramised titanium is obtained by oxidising surface layers of titanium at extreme temperatures using electroplasma technology. This process improves the metal’s hardness – 700 Vickers (Hv) – along with its friction coefficient as well its wear and corrosion resistance. Ceramised titanium is also highly biocompatible.
A style suited to every occasion
The L.U.C GMT One Black is a timepiece of great practicality in both its function and its versatile wearability. Styled in black and grey, with a strap in high-quality rubber processed like a fabric, it is suitable for any situation the wearer may encounter on his travels.
No detail has been left unconsidered: the perfect dial finish, with a vertical satin brushed effect, is hand-crafted with great skill, while the strap reflects Chopard’s attachment to the highest quality. Made in Switzerland, it offers huge versatility of usage thanks to its resistance to the effects of water or sweat, its high durability and its wearer comfort. In keeping with Chopard’s commitment to sustainable luxury, the strap has been subjected to stringent environmental tests including REACH certification for protecting human health and the environment from chemicals.
A GMT calibre crafted in-house
The L.U.C 01.10-L movement powering this timepiece is equipped with a GMT function. Made in the watchmaking workshops of the Maison, it guarantees a generous 60-hour power reserve, while the finesse characterising each and every L.U.C creation is expressed through meticulously hand-crafted movement finishing, visible through the display case-back.
For Chopard Manufacture, chronometric performance is considered as centrally important to Fine Watchmaking as the beauty, finish and functionality of the watch. Therefore, as with all L.U.C watches carrying a seconds indication, the L.U.C GMT One Black is ”Chronometer”-certified by the COSC for accuracy and performance.
25 years of excellence, innovation and tradition
In 2021, Chopard Manufacture is proud to mark the 25th anniversary of its creation in Fleurier. In 1996, when Swiss watchmaking was still emerging from struggles of the quartz crisis, Chopard Co-President Karl-Friedrich Scheufele committed to defending and restoring the crafts and techniques that had been passed down through generations of watchmakers. In the village of Fleurier, where watchmaking heritage goes back over 200 years, Chopard Manufacture would become a force for the finest techniques in traditional watchmaking, hand finishing and artistic crafts. At the same time, it has been able to innovate across the full range of modern watch production operations, from case -making to movement development, advanced metallurgy and component manufacture. In particular, it has put chronometry – the ultimate measure of horological excellence – at the heart of all its activities.
It is thanks to this thriving hub of unique skills, and Karl-Friedrich Scheufele’s vision of what a modern Fine Watchmaking manufacture could be, that Chopard has been able to create timepieces that are truly valued by connoisseurs – gentlemen who recognise that passion and artistry will combine to create extraordinary masterpieces.
As freedom of travel becomes a reality once more for some, Chopard brings a new design and lightweight wearability to its most prestigious watch for globetrotters: the L.U.C Time Traveler One Black, a worldtime watch crafted by the artisans of Chopard Manufacture, produced as a limited edition of 250 pieces, according to the most sophisticated Fine Watchmaking criteria. It introduces a monochrome style ideal for the fast-paced lives of global citizens. Along with the new L.U.C. GMT One Black, it is the world’s first travel watch in ceramised grade 5 titanium, a material that is both ultra-light and very hard-wearing. Beating inside this timepiece is a movement of exceptional quality and invention: calibre L.U:C 01-05-L, created entirely in-house. This stunning fusion of innovative technology and traditional handcraft gives rise to the ultimate timepiece of a new generation of gentlemen travellers.
World time within reach
The L.U.C. Time Traveler One Black timepiece is the latest interpretation by Chopard Manufacture of one of watchmaking’s noblest travel complications: the worldtimer, showing the time in 24 zones around the world simultaneously. A symbol of travel at its most sophisticated and elegant, the worldtimer is also a valuable tool for those doing business in multiple corners of the world at any one time.
The L.U.C Time Traveler One Black achieves the feat of displaying complex information with absolute clarity via a series of concentrically arranged discs. A central date disc, indicated by a discreet hand, is surrounded by a chapter display for the hours and minutes of the local time zone, with Dauphine hands in the elegant style characterising the L.U.C collection, adjusted by a crown positioned at 2 o’clock.
The latter serves to adjust the time in the main time zone. A second crown at 4 o’clock is used to turn the disc bearing the reference cities of 24 time zones, synchronised on the city disc with local time. Wherever the wearer finds himself at a given moment, when the city for the local time zone is set to the 12 o’clock position, all the time zones around the globe will be correctly displayed.
An innovative and modern material
Chopard launched the L.U.C Time Traveler One to wide acclaim in 2016, offering an elegantly modern take on the worldtimer tradition. The new L.U.C. Time Traveler One Black adds an even more contemporary twist with its sleek monochrome palette and lightweight wearability. The result: a sporty travel watch suited to any occasion.
The use of ceramised grade 5 titanium for the L.U.C Time Traveler One Black marks a world first for travel watches and reflects Chopard’s ongoing commitment to harnessing the most innovative materials in the advancement of Fine Watchmaking.

Monochrome style
The ceramised titanium case of the L.U.C Time Traveler One Black is matched with a monochrome dial featuring a hand-applied vertical satin-brushed finish. Completing the look is a matching black strap in rubber, crafted with an intricate fabric-like pattern. Made in Switzerland, the strap offers huge flexibility of usage thanks to its resistance to the effects of water or sweat, its high durability and its comfort on the wrist. In keeping with Chopard’s commitment to sustainable luxury, the strap has been subjected to stringent environmental tests including compliance with REACH regulations for protecting human health and the environment from chemicals.
Certified precision around the world
The L.U.C Time Traveler One Black timepiece is powered by the acclaimed worldtimer movement L.U.C 01.05-L, first unveiled in 2016. Made in-house at Chopard Manufacture in Fleurier, Switzerland, this self-winding integrated-construction movement has a 60-hour power reserve and beats at 28,800 vph (4 Hz). Reflecting the high standards of the L.U.C collection, it is meticulously hand-finished, with beautifully chamfered bridges and Côtes de Geneve decoration visible through the display case-back.
For Chopard Manufacture, chronometric performance is as important to Fine Watchmaking as the beauty, finish and functionality of the watch. Like all L.U.C timepieces carrying a seconds indication, the L.U.C Time Traveler One Black is therefore “Chronometer”-certified by the COSC for accuracy and performance.

Created in 1993 and featuring an innovative combination of steel and diamonds, the Happy Sport has been subtly distilling its audacity and modernity through the watchmaking world for almost three decades. It extends its power of seduction to snow-capped peaks with Happy Snowflakes, a capsule collection vividly illustrating the scope of Chopard's talents and creativity. Like a snowball packed with joy and freshness breaking the monotony of winter, a 30 mm stainless steel watch stages iconic dancing diamonds and a dainty gold snowflake whirling on its finely hammered silver-toned dial. Available with a polished or diamond-set bezel, this timepiece beats to the rhythm of the Chopard 09.01-C automatic movement and a 42-hour power reserve. It is paired with a white leather strap and can be complemented by a matching pendant made of 18-carat white ethical gold and diamonds.
Admiring the dance of time
Feminine and playful, technical and precious, timeless and modern: Happy Sport embodies the quintessence of a successful watch. With its dancing diamonds revelling in their freedom between the two sapphire crystals protecting the dial, it embodies the essence of casual chic style, whatever the occasion or season.
As winter approaches, the Chopard icon appears in a stainless steel 30 mm interpretation combining its three dancing diamonds with a gemset ethical 18-carat white gold snowflake inspiring its name.
The Happy Snowflakes watch is available with a polished or diamond-set bezel, while the faceted crown is embellished with a sapphire. Its delightfully rounded, feminine case houses the Chopard 09.01-C mechanical movement with automatic winding ensuring a 42-hour power reserve. Entirely made in the Manufacture's workshops, this calibre is visible through the watch's transparent case-back. The wintry look of the watch is perfected by an elegant satin-finished white leather strap.
Setting a sparkling stage
With the Happy Sport collection, Chopard has revolutionised women's relationship with time, which they no longer simply read off, but instead contemplate the endlessly renewed dance of the gems twirling around the dial. This is a technical feat that only a few diamond choreographers can accomplish, ensuring that each dancing element is arranged and assembled in such a way that its endless whirl is never impeded.
To create the backdrop for this enchanting tableau, the workshops of the Maison have designed a hammered silver-toned Happy Snowflakes dial enlivened by shimmering reflections that catch the light, playing with the sparkle of the diamonds and the dancing snowflake. Thanks to this virtuoso craftsmanship, the dial brilliantly reproduces the purity of a snowy mantle glistening in the rays of the winter sun. It provides a very elegant display of hours, minutes and seconds, complemented by rhodium-plated hands and Roman hour-markers.
The Maison also interprets its dancing snowflake in a matching pendant in ethical 18-carat white gold. Brimming with gaiety and freshness, it radiates an elegant and free-spirited aura of femininity.
Origins of the dancing diamonds
Since their invention in 1976 in the heart of the Chopard workshops, dancing diamonds have been spreading joy around the world. Immediately adopted by women, these diamonds housed between two sapphire crystals in a fine gold ‘spinning top’ distil their Joie de Vivre in a swirl of light.
The vision of a cascading waterfall inspired the Maison's designers to release diamonds from their setting and restore their full brilliance. Free, bathed in light and delightfully airy, the aptly named "Happy Diamonds" have since acquired a reputation for daring watch and jewellery collections celebrated around the world.
Perpetually on the move and brimming with Joie de Vivre, such is the nature of Happy Sport. Constantly reinvented since its creation in 1993, it enjoys multiple lives, just like the women who wear its dancing diamonds that whirl as freely as the creative imagination pervading Chopard's watchmaking workshops. The new Happy Sport, whose 36-mm case houses an automatic movement, is fitted with a metal bracelet and enlivened by warm, precious tones. The steel version features a pink dial, while the bi-material version in steel and ethical rose gold has a golden dial.
In 1993, Chopard made its mark on the history of women's watchmaking. The first watch to combine steel and diamonds, Happy Sport was a stroke of genius. Between two sapphire crystals, diamonds freed from their settings twirl cheerfully over the watch dial, accompanying each graceful move made by the wearer. Above and beyond its technical prowess, Happy Sport is a true ode to freedom, Joie de Vivre and femininity. Ever since then, this watchmaking icon has constantly reinvented itself as a permanent dance performed on feminine wrists.
Renewing an icon
Chopard presents new variations of this fertile, promising and ever-entertaining concept. Two 36 mm-diameter Happy Sport models, powered by a movement with automatic winding and fitted with a metal bracelet, flaunt new dials. One is an all-steel Happy Sport interpretation with seven dancing diamonds pirouetting across the warm shades of the shimmering pink dial, achieved by galvanic treatment and graced with a finely guilloché centre. The other is a bi-material model crafted in steel with 18-carat ethical rose gold highlights on the bezel, facetted crown, lug screws as well as part of the central links. The colour scheme naturally extends to the galvanically treated golden dial with a guilloché-patterned centre. Striking a pleasing contrast with the grey shade of the steel, the hands and hour-markers create exactly the kind of warm, lively and precious presence that has become a Happy Sport signature.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of its creation, Chopard Manufacture presents its first jumping-hour timepiece: the L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25. Housed in a 40-millimetre case featuring the L.U.C collection’s characteristically sleek lines and crafted from ethical 18-carat rose gold, its innovative and ultra-sophisticated L.U.C 98.06-L movement is equipped with four barrels based on the exclusive Chopard Quattro technology enabling up to eight days of power reserve. This makes it one of the rare jumping-hour watches with such a degree of autonomy. From the movement to the white Grand Feu enamel dial on which the hours aperture appears at 6 o'clock, the entire watchmaking creation, issued in a 100-piece limited series, is produced in-house thanks to the artistic crafts mastered by the artisans of the Manufacture, thus ensuring a high level of finishing duly rewarded by the prestigious Poinçon de Genève.
Innovation: a jumping-hour model with a generous power reserve enabled by Chopard Quattro technology
With its L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25 timepiece, Chopard Manufacture is introducing its first-ever jumping-hour watch. Much prized by collectors, this horological complication is given an extremely pure interpretation in this 100-piece numbered limited edition combining an understated design with the technical boldness typical of the L.U.C. collection. Combining tradition and modernity, its ethical 18-carat rose gold case features rounded shapes inspired by the hunter-type cases of the pocket watches once designed by Louis-Ulysse Chopard.
The L.U.C 98.06-L movement equipping this timepiece is one of the few in this category of watches – which generally consume a great deal of energy – to offer up to eight days of power reserve. Thanks to the four stacked and series-coupled barrels based on the unique Chopard Quattro technology – which usually allows up to 216 hours of autonomy – the L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25 maintains a reserve above 190 hours despite the amount of energy required for the rotation of the hours disc.
Visible through a transparent arena case-back, this highly complicated mechanical movement with manual winding guarantees reliability and precision within an overall thickness of just 4.85 millimetres. The balance-spring is equipped with a Phillips terminal curve that precisely controls the oscillations of the regulating organ – a feat of which only authentic Fine Watchmaking manufactures are capable. The movement is also fitted with a swan’s neck regulator enabling fine adjustment of this calibre.
Artistic craft: a dial fashioned by the Chopard Manufacture enamelling Artisan
Equally noble both inside and out, the L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25 timepiece displays the time on a pure white dial, entirely produced in-house by Chopard Manufacture's enamelling Artisan. Crafted on an ethical 18-carat rose gold base, this Grand Feu enamelled dial is fired several times at very high temperatures (820°C). It is then lightly polished to give it a gently domed appearance that creates unique light effects. Using black enamels, the Artisan then uses the same process to reproduce the "L.U.CHOPARD" logo along with the railway-track circle and Arabic numerals indicating the minutes.
The hours appear through an aperture positioned at 6 o’clock so as to ensure that the minutes hand does not obscure the sight of the hours change, which takes place instantaneously. The rose gold aperture frame accentuates the sobriety of the large black Arabic numerals showing the hours against a white background.
Patience, constancy and meticulousness were essential to the creation of this enamelled dial. The integration of this artistic craft demonstrates Chopard Co-President Karl-Friedrich Scheufele’s desire to make Chopard Manufacture a centre of excellence dedicated to traditional watchmaking expertise.
Precision: Poinçon de Genève-certified finishing
The high-quality work devoted to the L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25 has earned it the Poinçon de Genève. Governed by strict criteria of excellence, this highly coveted label is awarded exclusively to a few watchmaking creations whose beauty provides the perfect setting for a flawlessly functioning mechanism. It guarantees not only the quality, precision and reliability of the movement and the watch as a whole, but also ensures that the assembly was carried out in the canton of Geneva, the historical cradle of Fine Watchmaking.
Precise adjustments, wearer comfort and readability, movement bridges entirely adorned with the Côtes de Genève motif and finely bevelled components: these are the characteristics that make the L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25 a refined timepiece from both aesthetic and technical standpoints.
Since 1996, Chopard Manufacture has been perpetuating watchmaking expertise and reflecting the inspired vision of Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, committed to the quest for innovation and to defending the heritage passed on through generations of watchmakers – true artisans of watchmaking emotions – and passed on since the time of Louis-Ulysse Chopard, founder of the Maison in 1860.
Movement development, finished product design, gold smelting, case stamping and machining, calibre components, engraving and traditional hand-crafted finishes, Grand Feu enamel, surface treatments, polishing, assembly, adjustments and quality controls: its Swiss workshops in Geneva and Fleurier enable Chopard to master the full range of watch production operations involved in each creation of the L.U.C collection.
The work of experienced artisans, these timepieces whose simple and pure design expresses a high degree of mechanical sophistication beat to the rhythm of the emotions experienced by the contemporary gentlemen for whom they are intended: men distinguished by their attachment to art and expertise, watchmaking enthusiasts who lead their lives with boldness and passion.
Current trends captured through ancestral watchmaking and jewellery expertise: when all the codes of aesthetic excellence converge, perfection gives way to pure emotion. It is in this spirit that the L'Heure du Diamant collection sums up the wealth of artistic crafts cultivated within Chopard, by artisans ranging from master watchmakers to gemsetters. The collection is reinvented in a series of cushion-shaped watches, fashioned from ethical 18-carat white or rose gold, graced with a precious rose gold, lapis lazuli or malachite dial and rimmed with diamonds. These creations feature the emblematic tree bark-textured gold bracelet sculpted using a proprietary technique and beat to the rhythm of the Chopard 09.01-C automatic movement. They bear within them the genius of skills patiently nurtured through the years by Chopard's Artisans of Emotion.
A natural-born classic
With L'Heure du Diamant, all the elements contributing to the virtuoso construction of an artwork – encompassing artistic, technical, symbolic, artisanal and heritage dimensions – converge to perfection. Chopard once again demonstrates this wide-ranging prowess through a jewellery watch featuring modern lines and proportions testifying to the extraordinary vitality of its workshops. The cushion-shaped case with its curved sides endows this new creation with an undeniable sense of grandeur which combines with the unique bark-textured strap to revive the inimitable spirit of 1960s glamour, while embedding it firmly in contemporary aesthetic codes.
Luminous gemsetting
The absolute purity of the diamond is majestically highlighted by the collection’s emblematic crown setting technique, which exalts the beauty of each of the gems by allowing the light to shine through. This ribbon of diamonds encircling the case lights up a delicate dial crafted in sunburst rose gold set with 12 diamond hour-markers, or in blue lapis lazuli or mottled green malachite. Initiated by Chopard in the 1960s, the use of these hard stones provides an extraordinarily vivid mineral echo of the diamond mantle adorning the watch.
A sculpted gold bracelet
The light also plays brilliantly across the tree bark-style bracelet featuring a textured, silky touch and impeccable comfort stemming from unique expertise. Reflecting the plant world, its extremely fine veins lend undeniable vibrancy to the bracelet, thanks to a close-knit weave giving an incomparably supple feeling of lightness to the ethical 18-carat gold interpreted in white on the lapis lazuli version, rose on the versions with malachite and rose gold dials. It follows the curve of the wrist without ever snagging on the fabric of the wearer’s sleeve. This entirely hand-crafted goldwork technique was developed by the Scheufele family in the 1960s. The result of ancestral watchmaking and jewellery skills, it epitomises the pinnacle of mental and manual brilliance displayed in this jewellery watch, of which all three versions are also available with a leather strap in a colour matching the dial.
Watchmaking and jewellery heritage
Powered by the automatic Chopard 09.01-C mechanical movement and a 42-hour power reserve entirely produced by Chopard's watchmakers, this watch testifies to the complementary skills nurtured by the Maison. Jewellery watches are a decades-long speciality of the Scheufele family currently at the helm of Chopard. An ideal blend of beauty and precision, L'Heure du Diamant collection reaps the benefits of this technical virtuosity dedicated to impressive artistic modernity. From designer to watchmaker, from jeweller to gemsetter, and from polisher to watchmaker, these creations are brought to life by the wide-ranging talents of the Maison’s in-house artisans.
With its intricate all-diamond jewels, the Precious Lace Collection is a contemporary classic of today’s jewellery world. Instantly recognisable as the Maison’s stylistic signature, this jewellery line is light, lyrical and supremely feminine, as well as unmistakably Chopard in its effortless design and mastery of craft skills. The collection, inspired by the lightness and whiteness of lace, plays with light and space, weaving diamonds and gold together in fluid, intricate openwork. The result is a fascinating dialogue between strength and fragility, substance and delicacy; between the eternal brilliance of the diamond and the ethereal weightlessness of a lace-like jewel floating over the skin, hovering between Haute Couture and Haute Joaillerie. A jewel that moves in harmony with the body, a sensual and silky second skin fully reflecting the values of the Fédération de la Haute Couture of which Chopard is a “jeweller” member.
A new vision of Haute Joaillerie
Now, with a new series of light and lively jewels within the Precious Lace Collection, Chopard makes the preciousness of diamonds and the luxury of lace more accessible and wearable. These are personal gemset jewellery treasures for every day, every occasion and every woman. Like the collection itself, and its modern take on classicism, this talent for breaking down barriers between Haute and Fine jewellery, thereby dismantling the formality of Haute Joaillerie, is a powerful Chopard signature.
Caroline Scheufele, Chopard’s Co-President and energetic Artistic Director, has always understood and anticipated what women want in their jewels, and how they want to wear them. She has championed their causes, creating audacious, glamorous jewels that reflect their multi-faceted lives as well as illuminating their lifestyles, fashions and values. She works tirelessly to make precious jewellery exciting, expressive and most of all relevant today. Ever since she took the creative helm at the Family Maison in the 1980s, she has pushed boundaries, challenging existing conventions and infusing Haute Joaillerie with a fresh elegance characterised by effortless exuberance. In doing so, she gives new meaning to the precious nature of jewellery that women want to keep close to them at all times. Through her pioneering sustainable luxury initiatives, Caroline Scheufele defends the planet, its resources – in terms of gold and gems – as well as human beings themselves. In 2018, Chopard was the first luxury watch and jewellery manufacturer to commit to using 100% ethical gold.
Ethics meets aesthetics
With the new Precious Lace jewels, all hand-crafted in Chopard’s Haute Joaillerie ateliers using ethical gold and diamonds sourced from Responsible Jewellery Council certified members, Chopard brings that vision to life, disseminating the beauty, classicism and craftsmanship of Haute Joaillerie, translating its refinement into appealingly wearable, charismatically feminine jewels.
The designs echo the floral patterns, scrolls, swirls and scalloped edges of fine antique lace. The central design feature of the Precious Lace Collection – a rhythmic, undulating gold and diamond-set curl enclosing an unfurling line of pear-shaped diamonds – is now presented in miniaturised form through several designs. The first is a “Vague” motif whose proportions evoke foaming sea billows and is interpreted as a pair of earrings, a pendant and a ring. In another creative vein, the stylised flower pattern named “Mini-Froufrou”, with its scalloped borders and pear-shaped diamond petals on an airy openwork background, adorns a ring, earrings, pendant and bangle.
Lace – a treasured possession
Just as the collection plays with diamond light and lightness, with shape and form and space, so the theme itself plays with concepts of preciousness, and with the fusion of jewels and fabric, as well as the relationship between Haute Joaillerie and Haute Couture. The art of lacemaking was perfected in 16th century Venice, from where it spread across Europe to centres in Belgium, France, Spain and England, taking on different characteristics, in different styles. Lace, so meticulously and skilfully hand-made, was prized as a rich adornment to costume, for collars, cuffs, caps and ruffles, worn by royalty and nobility. It was thus regarded as a much-treasured, valuable possession particularly by the great Renaissance rulers, including Elizabeth I. Like jewels and gems, lace thus became a symbol of status and power.
In these jewels, the effect of exquisite hand-made lace is re-created by the interplay of pear-shaped and round brilliant-cut diamonds, using their shapes and their silhouettes within the openwork space in each design, to bring a lilting rhythm, playful fluidity and contemporary stylisation to the essential classicism of the theme. The delicacy of lace is replicated by the extreme precision of the goldwork, the slender mounts and airiness that serve to highlight the radiance of the diamonds, and at the same time, showcase the supreme skill of the Maison’s in-house artisans. Expertise similar to that of the nimble-fingered seamstresses referred to as petites mains in the field of Haute Couture, with which Chopard shares a number of core values: an array of eminently noble materials, a flair for details, a commitment to wearer comfort, and above all, an authentic love for women.
Chopard, master watchmaker and jeweller, is also renowned for crafting accessories designed for an art of living that is all about refinement and artisanal skills. The Maison unveils a new selection of exceptional objects further broadening the universe of its collections.
Crafted from the finest leathers, Chopard's leather goods collection welcomes a new Happy Sport shoulder bag. A refuge for the most personal accessories of today's women, this elegant rectangular camera bag-type model is inspired by the codes of the casual chic trend, which enjoyed its heyday in the 1990s when Chopard launched its iconic Happy Sport watch. Made from calf leather by the most skilled tanning and leather artisans, it features a large interior pocket lined with recycled fabric as well as a detachable shoulder strap. The links and other metalwork elements have been finished in an aged gold colour that contributes to the delightful vintage look of this essential fashion accessory. Available in a black version with a quilted pattern of oblique lines, or in a grained navy blue option, this Happy Sport bag is stamped with the traditional Chopard "C” as a token of its quality.
Backgammon is a highly prized board game now revisited by Chopard through a genuine piece of art entirely hand-crafted by French artisans. Its case is adorned with patient and meticulous marquetry work in FSC-certified walnut and oak wood, with no less than 18 hours required solely for the L.U.C Haute Horlogerie collection’s symbolic beehive motif.
