During this golden decade, power dressing was the norm for professional women, and these significant sartorial flairs are translated into SIRIVANNAVARI & S’Homme Autumn-Winter 2020/2021 named ‘French Flair’. The Maison reinvents its iconic semi-couture structures with a touch of Parisienne street style, for a winter journey that is at once modern and refined. An ode to freedom, the allure of SIRIVANNAVARI illuminates winter with a daring and dazzling freshness.
Fun and fearless, two posh dwellers seize the spirit of romantic elegance, as they walk through Place Vendôme to The bars at The Ritz Paris. One wears a tweed coat with chain details and wedge ankle boots, while the other wears a tweed cape jacket, with biker jeans and stilettos in electric yellow. Created by H.R.H Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, the collection’s silhouettes are marked with masculine/feminine accents, while playful styling adds a touch of warmth to the wardrobe. A predominantly earth-toned palette is punctuated with dashes of neon colours, ranging from vibrant fuschia, to bright green and yellow hues.
In the words of H.R.H Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, the Creative Director of SIRIVANNAVARI, “This latest collection represents the styling attitude and layering techniques of daily life during winter, yet still retains an elegant and modern approach. The details of fashion in the 90s were brought to my attention, and incorporated with the Maison’s semi-couture tailoring technique. A touch of Parisienne street style was added to the collection, to create a sense of modernity and contrast.”
“Signature silhouettes such as the Biker Jackets, overcoats, knitwears, and asymmetrical dresses have been reanimated — identifiable, yet different every time — using luxurious and wintery materials such as tweed, Italian cashmere, wool, silk satin, chain, and French feathers. The fascination of this collection distills the current youth, with a flash of elegance that characterises the SIRIVANNAVARI woman,” said H.R.H Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya.
The SIRIVANNAVARI and S’Homme Autumn-Winter 2020/21 collection features a total of 38 looks (31 womenswear and 7 menswear). The show commences with a selection of designs. A tweed biker jacket with feather embroidery at the neckline; a tweed cape jacket, paired with a pencil skirt in tweed and pleated tulle layering; a tweed jacket with chain detail, matched with a pair of tweed shorts worn over a quilt jacquard pointelle tights with the ‘S’ logo motif; a little black dress with gold piping worn over a sensual fishnet top; an evening gown with embroidered lace, accentuated by peplum hem details; tunic cashmere knitwear in fresh, vivid colours; and a tweed millinery, with neon-coloured plexiglass detailing.
The spotlight shines on the marvelous embroidery, courtesy of the SIRIVANNAVARI Atelier and Academy. The exquisite craftsmanship of the Maison’s in-house workshop of couture embroidery is clearly visible, from the feather embellishment on the tweed jacket and millinery, to the embellished and sequined tulle, silk satin, and lace.
As anticipated, graphic prints — a key element of the brand’s DNA — remain a highlight. Here, the Princess has created a signature print especially for the season, featuring a vibrant blow-painting technique. This print is incorporated throughout the collection, from ready-to-wear items such as a shawl collar blazer in the signature print — worn over a chartreuse green tunic cashmere, fastened with the SIRI emblem belt — to a peplum hem midi dress, as well as the scarves and handbags collection.
Highlighted is the Bijoux Collection which, inspired by the Princess’ personal illustrations and sketches, features stars, horse shoes, ribbons, coins, clover leaves, peacocks, horses, and the ‘S’ logo. The fashion jewellery collection embodies effortless grace and true individuality, evoking both the sensual curves of a woman, and the delicate shape of florals. Key pieces include the ‘coiled tubular’ set, adorned with charms, crystals, and coins, which includes a gold choker, a ring, and a double spiral bracelet adorned with coins. IRIS, the newest iconic emblem of the Maison, is first introduced in this season. Spelled backwards from ‘SIRI’, the IRIS collection offers a delicate portrayal of the elegant and fluid form of florals, with a pendant, brooch, and earrings, radiating a futuristic glamour.
To complement and complete an everyday look, the collection also features Italian leather goods. This season’s signature bag takes on an edgy and funky attitude — design codes that are clearly visible from the boxy bag with maxi two-toned fringe details, to the two-way carry bag in nano size — a bag that can be adjusted to function as both a belt bag and a cross-body. The shoes collection offers two iconic styles, from wedge boots (both ankle and top) made with black and camel Italian calf leather of the ultimate quality, and a plexiglass wedge, to silk satin stilettos in neon colours. In particular, the fuchsia-lacquered sole remains a signature of the Maison.
For the first time ever, the Maison debuts an eyewear collection, presenting a striking hexagonal-shaped frame, made using the finest acetate, with a peacock logo featured on the temple. The line of sunglasses is available in three colours — tortoiseshell, green, and brown – complemented with a gold chain.
For S’Homme, the menswear collection celebrates the refinement of a gentleman. Essential patterns are drawn upon and given a modern twist, ranging from patchwork check motifs, to cashmere knitwear, and a fitted jacket that emphasises the waist while at the same time, broadening the shoulders. Details of Parisienne street style are also incorporated here, as key looks include crisp white cashmere with orange neon motifs on the neckline, paired with pinstripe pants accentuated by neon green piping. A double-breasted jacket and an overcoat, featuring the patchwork of the Prince of Wales and Houndstooth plaid, are worn over a cashmere turtleneck, while a double breasted tuxedo suit is complemented with a winked collared crisp white shirt. Men’s leather goods are also featured, including loafers with a metal emblem featuring the Maison’s peacock logo, ankle boots with a dash of neon green detailing, and a chevron-patterned leather card holder. This season’s collection offers a wide array of fashion accessories, ranging from rings, to necklaces, pendants, pin suits, and scarves.
