As the Chinese calendar celebrates this magnetic astrological symbol, Bvlgari imbues its iconic reptilian design with a new dimension: eternity. Equipping Serpenti with an in-house self-winding movement was a natural evolution for Bvlgari.

This exceptional calibre has been developed, designed, and produced because no other on the market meets the size and volume criteria required to fit perfectly within the iconic shape of the Serpenti head. Designed and assembled entirely in Bvlgari’s Swiss manufacture, the Lady Solotempo Automatic movement reflects decades of accumulated expertise.

Lady Solotempo perfectly complements the Piccolissimo and the ultra-compact BVL150 Tourbillon – one of the smallest shaped tourbillons on the market – and spectacularly enhances Serpenti’s versatility. The snake, with its mythical allure, has long fascinated the Maison, whose origins are steeped in Greco-Roman art and culture. This deep connection has unlocked an infinite realm of creativity. Inspired initially by the splendour of Roman jewellery worn by Cleopatra, Serpenti continually reinvents itself, mirroring the transformative essence of femininity.

First introduced in 1948 as a mechanical timepiece, Serpenti was originally equipped with some of the finest movements of its era. Today, Bvlgari reconnects with this heritage through the Lady Solotempo movement, developed and produced entirely in-house at its manufacture in Le Sentier. This new calibre joins a prestigious family of horological achievements, following the Tourbillon in 2020 and the Piccolissimo in 2022.

In 2025, the Year of the Snake, the Lady Solotempo BVS100 heightens the hypnotic allure of Serpenti Seduttori. These new talismans feature hours, minutes, and seconds displays, with the term “Automatic” on the dial as a nod to their mechanical sophistication. Diamond accents on the bezel underscore this technical feat, while the transparent sapphire case back reveals the mesmerizing motion of the oscillating weight. Adorned with seven serpent-inspired scales, the weight symbolizes the watch’s perpetual renewal, powered by the wearer’s every movement.

Reflecting this evolutionary leap, Bvlgari has refined the sinuous contour of the Serpenti case. Its sleek, flowing curves radiate femininity, while the cabochon-cut rubellite crown offers a tactile connection to the mechanical masterpiece within.

The Lady Solotempo BVS100 Automatic movement embodies Bvlgari’s unparalleled expertise in watchmaking. Creating this completely new calibre was no small feat; it drew on the Maison’s experience with movements such as Solotempo and Finissimo. Years of research paved the way for this groundbreaking achievement.

After three years of development, the Lady Solotempo Automatic movement emerged, meeting the highest standards of precision and performance. This efficient and elegant calibre features a “Solotempo” (time-only) display, indicating hours, minutes, and seconds. Measuring just 19 mm in diameter and 3.90 mm in thickness, the Lady Solotempo weighs only 5 grams yet delivers an impressive 50-hour power reserve. Its compact, round design integrates seamlessly into Serpenti’s curves while remaining versatile for other Bvlgari creations.

The BVS100 ladies’ movement, developed and currently produced by Bvlgari in Le Sentier, is expected to be included in the future catalog of in-house movements available to other LVMH group Maisons and to be manufactured by Zenith in its Movement Manufacture.
