HUBLOT proudly unveiled the new square watch, a totally new geometry for the watchmaker which is inspired by the Maison's iconic, Big Bang. This Square Bang Unico adds a new outstanding pillar to 'The Shaped Collection' alongside the Spirit of Big Bang.

Ricardo Guadalupe HUBLOT CEO gave remarks about the new square watch, that it is a very specific timepiece that most watchmakers dare not tackle due to its divisive, disruptive, and unconventional shape that no one has known how to rework for decades and HUBLOT is not afraid to launch this new square timepiece shape in order to explore its power and creates a totally unique design.

HUBLOT currently masters three: a round watch, a barrel-shaped watch, and the MPs, those 'Master Pieces' have that have broken free from all conventions. The square shape is now the fourth shape. Its geometry bewitched HUBLOT due to many challenging ideas. First challenge for this new design is the movement, in the sense that every calibre has the wheel as its basic component, which needs a round movement. If you are to place a round movement harmoniously in a square case, this requires a very specific style. This is why most watchmakers hide their movement, to give the illusion of using a shaped movement or because they have failed to find a consistent aesthetic style. HUBLOT decided to take a radically different direction, by not hiding the movement. The Unico movement, is the pride of the Nyon watchmakers and the beating heart of most of its designs for over 10 years. The chronograph has a column wheel visible at 6 O' clock, while its bicompax display dispenses with a dial, to reveal its secret beautiful movements of the inner workings.

The second challenge was the modular construction of the case, designed in line with HUBLOT's DNA, with a central housing dressed with an upper and lower plate to enable a myriad of combinations and transformations. For this square in shape, it is much more difficult to make it with water resistant quality. However, HUBLOT could make it with a guaranteed water resistance to 100 metres. The size of the case is as well, an important factor to ensure that this model is perfectly ergonomic, and provide much comfort on the wrist, the same happy feeling when wearing the Big Bang 42mm. The sandwich construction of its dial, give different levels of depth with highly architectural level. The same as all of the Big Bang collection, the Square Bang Unico's dial is made from sapphire to give a very clear exclusive view of the Unico movement.

Next, the six (functional) screws on the bezel, were placed at exactly the same places as on the Big Bang. On either side of the Square Bang Unico, you will find the 'ears' from the Big Bang's case, giving balance to the design while protecting the case. And finally, the Square Bang Unico are using the same materials as its predecessor, including titanium, ceramic and King Gold, not to mention the famous 'All Black' finish.

In addition to the very much outstanding details inspired by Big Bang, the new strap design, which is decorated with 'chocolate squares' helps emphasize the prestigious Square Bang's identity. Thanks to its interchangeable One Click system, that allows the change of the look in one click. Each model of the Square Bang Unico, comes with a black rubber strap and a folding clasp in the same material as the case.

If you had to choose just one, it would be the 'Square Bang Unico All Black'. Like all the All Blacks, only 250 pieces will be made. This will be the only limited edition of the Square Bang Unico collection. This new Square Bang Unico becomes the ultimate answer for all timepiece' owners to feel so proud to travel with it everyday with unique style.
